Jan 21st Monday

Clock moved back an hour as we started the Panama Canal transit. Woke up early of course and walked around the upper decks for my morning constitutional. People already staking out places on the upper decks to get good views of the canal transit.

Weather is excellent and we spent most of the day on our balcony where we had the best views.

Had breakfast while we went through the first locks. The fit was tight and the ship banged against the walls a couple of times. Probably means there will be painting after we get to the Pacific Ocean.

At every place along the transit that people could gather, they greeted the Queen Victoria and at the Milaflores locks there must have been 100 or more people at the viewing area with celebratory greetings for our ship and its passengers.

The canal transit was complete at dinner. Dinner and lunch were uneventful except they did have some new ice creams – praline and chocolate at lunch, mocha for dinner.

We were both too tired even to stay up for the entertainment so we read and called it an early night.
