February 7th, Thursday

Big event today is crossing the equator. Weather is beautiful, 80 degrees with little humidity and clear skies. King Neptune and his court showed up at 1130 to grant permission for the ship to cross the equator so long as “pollywogs” were punished for their transgressions.

All those who were crossing the equator for the first time had to line up and be piped around the pool and kiss a fish while King Neptune and his court watched. Several passengers (volunteers) were covered with gunk (spaghetti and jello) because they were found guilty of crimes – turning the dryers ahead, not returning to the ship on time, etc – to placate King Neptune. Took some good pictures.

Lunch and relaxation and reading for the rest of the afternoon.

Dinner was formal and we got our dinner companions to take our picture. We then went to the entertainment which was outstanding for the second night in a row. Clocks turn back an hour tonight again before we get to Pago Pago.
