March 14th, Friday

At sea on our way to Laem Chabang which is our port for Bangkok, Thailand. Weather is beautiful but clearly we are in the tropics and will face heat and humidity for the next couple of weeks. Breakfast company was interesting with 3 other couples, two from the US doing the World Cruise like us, and one couple from Australia. We had met one of the couples from the US before, they had spent time in North Dakota, but the other US couple were “interesting”. The are from Cincinnati, Ohio and the wife sounds like she comes from the hills of West Virginia – high pitched, red neck voice. When I asked them how they got to New York and were traveling back, the husband proudly said they were taking an 18 hour Greyhound bus ride for $59 one way!!! The whole table got very quiet for about 10 seconds. What do you say to someone who has spent many thousands of dollars taking a world cruise then is proud of their $59 bus ride!

Any way, it turns out that foreigners are very interested in our presidential election and it’s process and candidates because their news stations are following it with interest.

Nothing much to talk about at lunch. Afternoon went to a piano recital and Chris had her hair done. Dinner was pretty uneventful and the entertainment tonight was good – a singer, musician and comedian.
