It was a beautiful day in Athens. The temperature started out in the 60s and got into the 70s later in the day. While it was cloudy the sun came out occasionally. Our tour took us directly to the Acropolis and Chris and I managed the climb up with little trouble, It was crowded - lots of tourists and school children. We enjoyed the ruins and it looks like a lot more work is going on to restore the temples. They’re building a new museum that supposed to be ready by year end.
After the walk down, which was tougher than the walk up because of the crowds, we were taken to the Plaka – a great shopping area with lots of restaurants. We had lunch there – both of us had gyros (pronounced keiros) – then we shopped a little and took the bus back to the ship. By the time we got back both of us needed a rest – the walk up and down the Acropolis took a lot out of us.
In any event we both were too tired to even go to dinner so we ordered room service and relaxed. At 830 we went to the theater for a folkloric show which was local musicians and dancers playing traditional greek music and folk dances.
A good day and I’ll have plenty of work to do tomorrow to edit pictures and update my blog.
