April 14th, Monday

Arrived in Citavecchia on a beautiful morning. While it’s getting cool the day turned out warm enough. Chris and I were too sore from yesterday’s hikes to even attempt our scheduled excursion around an Etruscan village and farm. We decided to sleep a little later and relax till late in the morning then go into town and shop for souvenirs and have a good lunch at one of the town’s restaurants.

We tried to find the “weeping Madonna” statue, but turns out to be privately owned and not publicized for viewing. We did visit the Church of the Immaculate Conception which was very beautiful. After looking for a restaurant called Il Pescatore that was supposed to be near the terminal on the beach, we asked someone for directions and were told we needed to take a taxi to get to it. As a result we ate at one of the better restaurants that was part of a hotel across from the beach and had a very good lunch. Chris had Linguine with clams and I had Linguine with Lobster.

Afterwards we strolled back to the terminal and got our shuttle to the ship and just relaxed the rest of the afternoon. We both needed the rest.

Our dinner companions didn’t make it to dinner, they must have gone to Rome for the day and arrived back late.
