Our wake-up call was at 530, but we were awake before then and packed and down for breakfast before 6. We left the hotel on our buses at 645 and toured the Temple of Luxor at the other end of the Avenue of Sphinx’s from the Karnac Temple. It was as awesome as everything else we saw. Apparently the story behind the temples is that the God Ra (a male) visited his wife once a year for 11 days. Her temple was Luxor and his was Karnac. So every year the Egyptians would had a procession of the statue of Ra through the avenue of the Sphinxs’ and the two statutes would be put in the Luxor temple sanctuary for 11 days while celebrations and so on were the rule of the day.
Again more pictures (one of Chris and I in front of the entrance to the Temple at Luxor) and back on our buses at 845 for our convoy back to the ship). Arriving at 1130 in time to freshen up and get lunch (like we were starving or something). I really am getting to hate standing on line for buffets. After lunch I had Chris take a nap while I checked email. Then she went to acupuncture and we met our dinner companions for two hours of bridge (boy I enjoyed that, Chris and I haven’t played bridge for at least a year, we’ve got to find some bridge players in Reading when we get back).
After dinner, Chris called it a night and I went to the evening entertainment thinking about all the pictures I have to edit and that tomorrow we’ll be transiting the Suez Canal and won’t want to miss that either – more pictures!
