Jan 31st, Thursday

Sailing towards Hawaii for four days.

We must have gone through a storm last night. The ship is rolling and the decks were very wet when I did my morning walk. It was cool and I was glad I bought a sweat shirt. The skies are clear but windy and seas are 11 feet or so. No problems with sea sickness, we must have our sea legs.

At breakfast ate with two couples who joined in LA; a German couple, both judges and an American couple from Orlando, one of whom was a lawyer. Interesting breakfast and maybe we’ll get to play some bridge with the American couple.

Chris went to her third acupuncture treatment while I edited pictures and updated my journal.

Met a lady from Vancouver at lunch. She’s traveling with a friend who likes to eat at the Lido while she prefers dining service like we do. We hit it off and found out she’s going to the Opera in Sidney alone so we offered our company. We’re also doing the harbor cruise in the afternoon. She’s going back to New York as we are, so we’ll see more of her and her friend I’m sure.

Relaxed and read in the afternoon and dressed for formal night and captain’s cocktail party. We met another German couple at the cocktail party.

Dinner was surf and turf and cherry vanilla ice cream. We had no interest in any entertainment and no luck at the slots so it was an early night.
